Up Trucks and Tracks 2002 Tracks and Trucks 2003

Over the weekend of 22nd 23rd March we went along with Mark to Folkestone and the Leas Cliff Hall. The weather was kinder to us than last year with brilliant sunshine both days and just a light breeze and so there was lots of tank running outside. Mark brought along a 1/6th scale T-34 and JS-2 so the German tanks didn't get it all their own way over the weekend! Click on the pics for an enlargement.

What's that old wreck? Oh yeah, its Humpy! This Panzer IV belongs to Rex Cadman, the man behind the War And Peace Show.

Our Mazda van was parked just behind this Panzer IV so we had an opportunity to compare colours. They not far off.!

Here we see the stand as seen from the staircase as you descend into the hall. There's not a lot of room when the public arrives.

At one end we have the Russian contingent...

.....and at the other the Germans. It was felt a gap between them would be a good idea!

Jim strides purposefully out with his Tiger...

...and purposefully sits down! To be fair Jim's waiting for a knee op, and soon, otherwise he might miss the War and Peace Show (not bloody likely he told me!)

Jim's Tiger shows just what it's made off by squashing a plastic bottle.

A nice side portrait. Jim now has a replica of his Tiger in all the popular scales, right down to 1/144th!

A rear view of Chris Leach's Tiger 1 complete with rusty exhaust pipes.

I can't remember who applied the Zimmerit on Chris's model but it is rather effective.

Chris with his new found friend! His face says it all!

The two Tigers prepare to gang up on the Russians.

Howard's T-34 proves that a 1/8th model is every bit as capable as squashing a plastic bottle, even though it's already been squashed by one of the Tigers!

Howard fancied a sit down so he sent his T-34 over to pick up a chair! I've seen everything now!

Look out, here comes Humpy!

A lovely sunny picture of the Panther and its quite clean.

I didn't have my smoke generator on as the smoke was blown away by the breeze and it seemed to be interfering with the sound module! A little investigation maybe called for!

When all else fails, joust! This always raises a smile.

An impromptu line up in front of some spectators. I expect they came out for a nice quiet cup of tea!

A fine body of men! Some serious faces here and I do believe that Mr Spencer has his tongue out!

Here come the Russians to give the Germans a run for their money.

The 1/6th scale JS-2 is an awesome model with a lot of 'presence'!

Mark told us that the 122mm gun would blow a Panther turret clean off the tank just by sheer kinetic energy! Gulp.

As you can see here the model has excellent running characteristics with a lot of suspension travel.

The 1/6th T-34 has a very high top speed, so high in fact that we thought Mark was going to run some onlookers over.

A nice picture of the Tanks framed by the Halls name board. A pity they weren't in the middle!
