And here it is, the long awaited Sherman in 1/6th scale from Mark-1-Tank. This is actually the Firefly variant fitted with the British 17 Pdr gun.

Looking down the business end of the gun it's easy to see why it was a match for the Tigers and Panthers. This was feared by the German tank crews.

The model was commissioned by Dave Norris, one of the UK Tank Club founder members and these pictures were taken one evening in his back garden so please excuse the quality!

I must say I was impressed with the models looks although I'm not the worlds expert on Sherman's! Those in the know (ie Dave) have said its 'OK'!

Apparently the model runs well (we weren't allowed to run it as Howard hasn't given us our instructions!) but slips like the real thing. The tracks and sprockets are certainly very impressive.

Here is a close up of the final drive housing. The model uses a standard gearbox with chain final drive inside the housing.

A close up of the suspension bogie. The bogie works well although thanks to Mark Spencer's 'Quality Control' it has a good coating of Hampshire mud which hides the detail a little.

More pictures will be added as and when I get them, watch this space.

Not the best quality picture here but the light was starting to go! A close up of the rear idler assembly.

A close up of the turret. This model is more or less as supplied but Dave's going to add some details and accessories. It is fitted with smoke, sound and a six shot blank firing revolver!
